Who is Amy?
Amy Watkins is a British travel journalist and copywriter living and working in Vancouver, B.C.

Who does she write for?
If you’re looking for someone to chew it, do it or review it then get in touch. Amy has written travel news, reviews, features and round-ups for UK newspapers (Mail on Sunday, Independent on Sunday, Sunday Mirror), magazines (Cruise International, Sunday Times Travel, Wanderlust) and websites (MSN Travel, Room for Romance).

Where has she been?
Amy’s adventures have taken her all over the world – from polar bear spotting in the Canadian Arctic and eating thousand-year-old eggs in Hong Kong to cooking with celebrity chefs in the Caribbean and dodging drinking a human toe cocktail in the Yukon. Amy’s favourite country is Canada and over the last 13 years she has been a regular visitor to Montreal, Quebec City, Nunavut, Yukon, Vancouver and Ottawa. Want a peek at where she’s been? Amy takes photographs to accompany her work and there are some examples here in her gallery. She also works with her partner Geraint James on travel features; his images have appeared alongside her features in the Mail on Sunday, Independent on Sunday, Wanderlust and Fork magazine.

What does she write about?
Amy writes about all forms of travel from outdoorsy adventure trips to luxury foodie breaks. She specialises in writing about cruising and has sailed on all types of cruises from big ship holidays in the Caribbean to expedition adventures to remote corners of the world. Life at sea has taken Amy from the ends of the earth at Cape Horn to the far north and Greenland’s Arctic Circle. Along the way she’s experienced orangutan-spotting in the wetlands of Borneo and even braved swimming with crocodiles in Northern Australia.

How long has she been a journalist?
Amy went freelance in 2009, after returning from a five-month around-the-world trip to Japan, Fiji, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the US. She started her media career as a magazine editorial assistant then production editor in 2004 and went on to become a features and supplements editor on a regional paper. Amy holds both a PTC-accredited postgraduate diploma in Magazine Journalism and a BA in Journalism, Film and Broadcasting from Cardiff University.
